On Fri., April 26, RWU and the Campus Entertainment Network (CEN) welcomed comedian Preacher Lawson and his mother, Mama Lawson to the Field House, where it was a night of constant laughter and joy as a conclusion to Spring Week performances.

Mama Lawson opened the night for her son and her animated facial expressions and distinctive accent warmed up the crowd. She did bits on what it was like to be a teacher and what it was like raising Preacher and his siblings as a single mother.

When Preacher got on stage, it only took seconds for the crowd to end up crying from laughter.

Whether it was calling people out for walking in late, or asking why the crowd seemed to judge the way he drank water, Lawson never stopped being hilarious.

Lawson also did bits on dating, being a vegan, and getting into an MMA fight with Sean Strickler.

At one point in the middle of the show, Lawson even used an audience member’s phone to call her sister on stage!

Lawson also answered audience questions before doing an audience requested joke.

Following the show, everyone was able to take photos and meet Preacher and had the opportunity to purchase merchandise from Mama Lawson.

The Hawks’ Herald’s own Social Media Manager Sydney Zobel, Chief Designer Lizzie Van Liew and Managing Editor Lily Neves all were able to get a photo with him!
