Homeoworthy, a YouTube Channel and publication known for its meticulously curated home tours, recently featured two Roger Williams University students in its first ever dorm room episodes.
Homeworthy, was created by three-time Emmy Award winner, Alison Kenworthy, with the mission to explore the stories behind unique and personalized living spaces. This time Homeworthy stepped into a new world; college dorm rooms. Who better to feature than Madison M. Barr and Madelyn T. LaScala, two students known for their influential style. These episodes are a milestone for the channel of over 400K viewers, broadening their content and highlighting the art of making the most out of small spaces.
When you think of the classic dorm room you probably imagine a no-frills set up, standard-issue desks, and twin XL beds all encased in cinder block walls. But Barr and LaScala, both took a distinct approach rooted in authenticity when approaching the design of their dorms. Shattering the typical image of dorm rooms they caught the eye of Homeworthy and had been working hand in hand with producers since even before move-in day.
Barr’s dorm room is an ode to bold fashion forward living. A vibrant palette with eye-catching elements of vintage glamor translates into a warm elegance within the small space. Madison’s room features geometric rugs and a gallery wall that artfully mixes prints and fashion photos. The room’s curation is sophisticated yet the usage of personal treasures as decor makes it warmly inviting.
LaScala’s dorm room is infused with a charm as she mixes earthly tones with metallic accents. Her style struck a classic balance between comfort and refinement. The room has a taste of prep with a heavy influence of nautical aesthetics. Madelyn’s space has a welcoming sense that is communicated by her antique finds and collection of plush throw pillows. Madelyn’s innovative desk transformation into a storage filled beauty and hair vanity is not only her safe space but personal filming corner. With each detail carefully curated in the small space, Madelyn has transformed her dorm room into a haven of inspiration.
Within these two videos by Homeworthy the students highlighted the journey behind designing their spaces and personal anecdotes relating to the decor. Viewers got a glimpse into DIY projects, local vintage hunting, and intimate stories of the girls referring to their friendship. Most of all these episodes showcased how to make small spaces feel larger and more cohesive therefore setting a new standard for what dorm living can look like.
For the overall Roger Williams University community we should celebrate the fact that art and creative students exist all around us.
