Freshman and first-time club member, Baden Dickson, enjoyed her first and only trip to Mount. Sunapee in Newbury, New Hampshire.

As the snow of the winter season melts to make way for spring flowers, RWU’s seasonal Ski and Snowboard Club said goodbye to their 2023-2024 season.

“Ski Club makes people happy, gets people outside, and it’s a good time with your friends,” said freshman club member, Will Desantos.

The Ski Club is the second largest club on campus and invites students on day trips and even the occasional overnight trip to various ski mountains in New England.

“It’s a great way to socialize and meet a lot of new people while also exploring your favorite hobby,” said freshman member, Andrew Paris.

The club went on a total of four trips this season, including mountains such as Okemo Mountain in Vermont, Gunstock Mountain, and Mount. Sunapee in New Hampshire. Their last trip was earlier this month on March 2 to Mount. Sunapee.

“I’m a freshman so this is my first year doing it [Ski Club] but I think it was a lot of fun,” said first-time member, Baden Dickson. “It’s nice to meet new people and just get out there on the slopes.”

Desantos and Paris describe being “absolutely devastated” that the club is done for the year but are excited to see what next season brings.

“I am a little sad that Ski Club is over but that only means Summer is coming,” said Dickson. “I’m looking forward to the club next year and hopefully, we get some good snow.”

Ski and Snowboard Club will resume again next semester in the Fall and anticipates holding more trips with better snow conditions.
