Despite holding one of the top scoring teams in the CNE to only two runs on Tuesday, the RWU baseball team still could not keep up with the top seeded Endicott falling 2-1. Endicott took a one run lead in the top of the second inning after a miscue from RWU’s catcher, Senior Braden Ventura, leading to a run scored by Endicott’s Junior Cade Bernardo.
After having a quiet first four innings, RWU gained some momentum after Freshman Devin Driscoll’s base hit eventually led to a bases-loaded situation, and he then got home to tie the game at one a piece.
It was Endicott’s Junior Trevor Kamuda, who’s hit, got Junior Brenden Walsh home for their second run of the game, putting them up 2-1 and putting the finishing touches on the ball game. RWU on 33 at bats got one run and five hits, while Endicott had 34 at bats with two runs and eight hits.
RWU after the loss now hold a four-game losing streak as well as losing five straight home games. RWU is now 8-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play, with only one home win. RWU is traveling out to Wenham, MA to play a back-to-back this Saturday against Gordon, first pitch at 11am, and second game starts at 2pm.
