10 ways to celebrate Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month is celebrated throughout the month of March, highlighting women and how they got to where they are today. Here are some ways that anyone can celebrate the month in a meaningful way.
-
Acknowledge the women in your life. Take some time and tell those special women that make your life better how much they mean to you.
-
Consider donating to a cause that supports women in need. Giving what you can to charities like the National Women’s Law Center, Girls Not Brides USA or Futures Without Violence can go a long way in helping out the women of the world.
-
Support businesses owned by women. Shopping from small businesses owned by women can help support them and their dreams.
-
Research the history of women’s rights in America. Women have worked hard to get to the point they are at today and it can be beneficial for everyone to look deeper into the history of women’s rights in this country.
-
Read books written by women. Reading titles written by women can help keep these authors relevant and support future female authors.
-
Take time to think about all women. As the saying goes, make sure you support your sisters, not just your cis-sisters. This allows for a more tolerant society where everyone can feel comfortable.
-
Stand up for women in need. This is something that should be done throughout the year, not just in March. If you see a woman in a potentially dangerous or uncomfortable situation, consider helping them out of it.
-
Respect all women you come in contact with. This is another thing that should be done all the time, but becoming aware of it now is a great start. Be conscious of how you interact with all women and make sure you are giving them the respect everyone deserves.
-
