Despite coming off a three-game losing streak, a spark finally reignited Saturday for the men’s lacrosse team. Rookie Attack Caleb McKeown scored four goals to help lead the Hawks to a much needed 16-6 win against Emmanuel in Boston.
“I just wanted to go out there, get after it and give the team my all,” McKeown said. “I’d also like to thank all my teammates because none of that happens without them.”
McKeown joined the Hawks as a freshman out of Plymouth, Massachusetts, spending all four years of his hometown high school career on the lacrosse team. He captured 100 goals in his 2024 high school season, was named Plymouth County Spring sport MVP in 2025, and was Patriot League All-Star in 2024 and 2025.
McKeown already is seeing plenty of field time in his early stages of his time on the Hawks, becoming a key part of this roster going into conference play. He started four of the eight games played so far this season, according to the RWU athletics website helping to become a key part of this roster going into conference play.
“I was a transfer this spring semester, I was just glad Coach [Kevin] Gould was able to give me that opportunity. I’ve been honored to be able to see a lot of playing time. It’s a privilege,” McKeown said.
On top of his increased minutes early in the season, McKeown leads the way in goals scored, scoring 11 thus far, as of March 24. Along with his 11 points, McKeown has also totaled three assists and is shooting 31% to this point.
“Every day going out there and getting 1% better, giving it my all every single day, we are out there, whether it is a game or a practice,” McKeown said. “We’re a good team, and we’ve got a lot of talent.”
The Hawks’ next eight games will all be conference opponents with their next matchup on the road against Endicott this Saturday at noon.
