Top 5 songs of the summer

As summer of 2020 draws to a close, it’s obvious this season was not like any other before it. COVID-19 disrupted our plans and expectations but it was still a summer to remember in the world of music. In no particular order, here are some of the top songs of the summer.

“Watermelon Sugar” – Harry Styles

One of several singles released from his sophomore album, “Fine Line,” Harry Styles’ sense of groove and summer fun is displayed on this track. The song continues to place within top spots on the radio and elsewhere, reaching number one on the Billboard charts. The sweet and catchy tune is certainly a memorable song from this summer.

 

“Break My Heart” – Dua Lipa

Another catchy track, this song by Dua Lipa is super fun and has a classic sound. With lyrics like “I should have stayed at home cause I was doing better alone but when you said hello I knew that was the end of it all,” the song is definitely relatable when starting a new relationship.

“Rain On Me” – Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

Finally joining forces for a collaboration, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande released this song and are set to perform it at the VMAs on Aug. 30. A song that boasts confidence and positivity in the midst of life’s obstacles, it certainly has a spot in the top tracks of the summer.

“WAP” – Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion

As controversial as it is addicting, this track by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion has taken over social media, particularly TikTok, with dance challenges all over the ForYou page. Have you tried doing the “WAP” dance yet?

 

“Sunday Best” – Surfaces

This feel-good song brought a much needed boost of positivity in a changing world due to the pandemic. The group sings, “Feeling blessed, never stressed. Got that sunshine on my Sunday best.” The track is both catchy and mellow. It’s perfect for a summer drive!
