Looking for some fun fall activities to do this October? The state of Rhode Island is home to many farms that provide a long list of outdoor festivities.

Located in Wakefield, RI is Clark Farms Garden Center where you can find a traditional corn maze, large pumpkin patch, and a petting zoo! The farm also offers hayrides on the weekends and a “flashlight maze” after dark in their corn maze.

Similar to Clark Farms, Cucumber Farm in Foster, RI has a corn maze you can explore during the day and at night. Visitors can also pick their own pumpkins at the farm’s pumpkin patch.

If you are in search of some fresh fall produce, head to Salisbury Farm located in Johnston, RI. Here, there is a farmer’s market where they offer a wide array of fruits, vegetables, and other fall treats. Hand in hand with their market, the farm is also home to New England’s original corn maze. Hayrides are also available at Salisbury Farm.

For people in search of a good scare this October, take a trip to Scary Acres in Hope, RI. For the Acres run haunted hayrides, and also a haunted corn maze on the weekends. Be prepared to get a good Halloween scare if you are visiting here!

Pumpkin picking is another popular fall activity, and in Rhode Island you can easily find a great number of pumpkin patches. Close to the Roger Williams campus, in Portsmouth, RI is Escobar’s Highland Farm and pumpkin patch. There are also pumpkin patches at Confreda Farms in Hope, RI, Barden Family Orchard in North Scituate, and Carpenter’s Farm in Wakefield.

To further celebrate the Halloween season, from October 9th all the way until November 6th, Roger Williams Parks Zoo hosts the Jack-O-Lantern Spectatular. The zoo describes this event as, “A nighttime display of 5,000 illuminated jack-o-lanterns all along our beautiful Wetlands Trail, with well over 100 of the pumpkins carved into veritable works of art.”

Other Halloween events and festivities in Rhode Island are the Vortex: Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror Film Festival taking place during the weekends of October, the UnBOOlievable festival at Carousel Village on October 22, and the Newport Vineyards Halloween CarnEvil which occurs on October 28.
