Senior Jake McVey was selected to perform the national anthem at this year’s commencement.

As a music major, he has been singing at RWU for the past four years. McVey is also the business manager of Hawkward and composes various arrangements for the group.

For McVey, his performance at commencement will be a celebration of his time at RWU.

“I came into college not really super invested in music, but then I decided that it was what I wanted to do, it’s my major,” McVey said. “In the four years here, I’ve seen immense amount of growth within myself musically. So, to sing at commencement will be the cherry on top of my wonderful career here at Roger.”

McVey is currently enrolled in a graduate program at Southern New Hampshire University to get an MBA in music business. After he graduates from the program, he plans to work in the music industry.
