Black History Month through the eyes of MSU

Black History Month is the month we take annually to solely celebrate and give tribute to black figures who have made an impact on our nation’s history. To honor these heroes, the Multicultural Student Union (MSU) puts on a series of events to pay respect and to educate the campus on all of the roles these people had and the impacts they have made in all parts of history.

Our general members expressed disappointment with the campus’ lack of effort in supporting Black History Month. Therefore, they took it upon themselves to plan events within MSU. Through our events, our general members put much of their efforts into ensuring black history is not only celebrated, but that we also recognize its influence on music, arts, food and communities. In taking on these beliefs and values, MSU continues to work with groups on campus to put on events, in hopes of highlighting the black community’s history and achievements.
