TikTok, an app that launched back in 2016 as a “replacement” of the app Vine, has taken over the world by storm. Since the beginning of 2020, over 800 million users worldwide have watched and uploaded videos on TikTok.

This video-sharing network is used to create short dances, comedy, lip-sync and talent videos. Today, short dances are among the most famous videos on TikTok and are posted by many public figures and influencers. Users are able to watch, like and engage with them as one would on Instagram. People can also duet with them or create their own versions.

Some of the most popular TikTok dances on trend right now are as follows:

  • Renegade
  • Say So
  • Captain Hook
  • No Fear
  • Need a Freak
  • Savage
  • Yike or Die (remix)
  • Drama
  • Yellow Hearts
  • Bussin

Some of the famous influencers and TikTok stars’ profiles where you can find many, if not all, of these trends and more include Charli D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, Chase Hudson, Tony Lopez and Ondreaz Lopez. Many of these names are a part of what is called “The Hype House,” a mansion in Los Angeles where TikTok creators live and other members go to film their content.

Freshman Lina Luzietti shared that she loves to dance and through TikTok, she is able to learn these short dances. With Coronavirus and new rules for social distancing, Luzietti has been able to learn through many tutorials.

“I like to watch TikTok in my down time because I find the videos to be entertaining. I also love to learn the dances and have fun making the videos that go along with them,” Luzietti said.

Senior Makaila Corridori shared her input on TikTok as well.

“Going on TikTok helps to brighten my day,” Corridori said.

“During this quarantine, it is easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed, so for me the app is a great stress reliever that allows me to watch creative and funny videos based on my interest.”
