After extensive search, RWU finds new provost

Dr. Margaret Everett will take over the position as provost and vice president for academic affairs on July 1, 2020.

A new provost and senior vice president for academic affairs will be joining the Roger Williams University community on July 1. Dr. Margaret Everett will fill the position left vacant since June 2019.

Everett is the current provost and vice president at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Before that, she spent over 20 years teaching and holding leadership positions at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

“I am so honored to join Roger Williams University at this moment in its history,” Everett said in a press release from the university. “I look forward to working with President Miaoulis and the faculty and staff to enhance the innovative, high-caliber blend of liberal arts and professional programs.”

While at Lesley, Everett opened a continuing studies campus in nearby New Bedford. She also initiated programs that reduced costs to students and increased access to education.

“I am thrilled to have Dr. Everett join our leadership team as we guide Roger Williams University through a period of tremendous innovation and growth in our scope and reputation,” said President Ioannis Miaoulis. “I am confident that she will elevate the university’s unique blend of liberal arts and professional programs and deepen our commitments to diversity and inclusion and to lifelong learning.”
