In the last weekend of April, the Hawks hosted the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 2024 championship at Portsmouth High School, where they dominated on the track and in the field. At the track meet, the men took first place in the 4×100 relay, 400m dash, 400m hurdles, 3000m steeplechase, 5k race, long jump, triple jump, and hammer throw.

The meet was three days long starting on Thursday, April 25, with the men’s and women’s 3000m steeplechase. Senior Trey Generali, not only took first place but also set an RWU record in steeplechase, with a time of 9:30:64. Fellow hawk, freshman, Nathan Evans, claimed third place clocking in at 9:45:54.
The events continued on Friday with the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles and the prelims and finals of the long jump and hammer. Junior, Griffin Hebert placed a time that put him in third place in the 110m hurdles, and sophomore, Sean O’Brien placed fifth. In the long jump, junior Sam Bielawa took first place in the meet and second place overall, with a distance of 6.65m. Also in first place at the meet, sophomore Napoleon Suderman threw 34.10m in the hammer throw.
The next events were on Saturday, April 27, starting at 10 A.M. Starting strong in the first track event of the day, the Hawk’s men’s 4×100 team took first place in the meet in the relay with a time of 43:28. The relay team comprised of seniors, Sean Donovan and Andy Oren, junior Joey Deluca, and sophomore Jacob Ward.
The next victory of the day was in the 400m dash where junior Jack Bielawa took first place in the meet and second place overall, with a time of 50:94.
The other gold medals of the day were Griffin in the 400m hurdles, sophomore Nathan Tassey in the 5k race, and Sam Bielawa in the triple jump.
All of the men’s efforts resulted in a final team score of 252 points, which was 135 points ahead of the second-place school, Wentworth Institute of Technology.
The CCC Championship closed out the track & field regular season, however, eight men from RWU continued to compete at the New England Division III Track & Field Championship on May 3-4.
