Dance Club lights up the field house

The RWU Dance Club danced the night away on Nov. 9 during their annual Fall Show. The theme for this year’s event was “we light up the night,” and the show consisted of various types of dance styles.

The Field House was filled with family, friends and students supporting the show and the performers. Members of Campus Entertainment Network (CEN) sold flowers before the show to give out to performers. Glow sticks were also handed out at the doors, to help light up the room throughout the event.

There were just over 20 performances in the show and each one was unique. There were slow and dramatic dances, along with more upbeat and fun performances.

A couple of crowd favorite routines included “Afrobeat and Reggae,” choreographed by Elfreda Hoff and “#throwback,” choreographed by Michaela Curcio, secretary of DanceClub. During this piece, danceclub members danced to a mashup of popular songs spanning over the last decade.

A group of six dancers performed a tap dance to Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend.” The Dance Team performed their home game routine, while the Ballroom Dance Club danced to “When I Grow Up” by The Pussycat Dolls.

The crowd was incredibly energetic throughout the show. In between performances, audience members cheered for their friends who would appear in the next dance. Their hoots and hollers filled the Field House with energy.

Dance Club officers extended their gratitude to everyone involved in making the show a success.

“Dance Club has been preparing for the show since late August with the help of Stage Crew, SPLO, the Design Center and our incredible advisor Allison Chase Padula,” said Lucia Petruccelli, senior public relations major and president of the club.

“All of the hard work our choreographers and dancers have put into creating and practicing the pieces every week this semester really showed last night.”
